Memories of Grandma

Nan
You are so very loved by all of your grandchildren, you always said that they kept you young.  At the end of every visit to Grandma’s before Philomena and Michael hugged you, they enjoyed one of your selection of Irish Songs, that you sang to them on your knee whilst gently patting their back. A tradition that you did to your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In recent times, Paddy on the Railway was your firm favourite  and the song you opted for and one that the children know by heart and now sing for comfort, remembering your voice and the song that you sang to them.

“Paddy on the railway, picking up stones,
Along came an engine and broke Paddy’s bones.
“Oh”! said Paddy, “That’s not fair”
“Oh!” said the engine driver, “I don’t care.”

No matter how lively they were – you had a natural ability to relax them in order for them to have Paddy on the Railway.  They loved being close to you and your hugs.
